Mayor Cassandra Valenti held a press conference this week outlining the next phase of Junction City’s Downtown Revitalization Project. The initiative will focus on repairing historic facades, improving street lighting, and offering tax incentives to encourage new business development along Main and Market Streets.

Several council members praised the plan as a major step toward combating the city’s reputation for late-night crime and economic stagnation. “We want people to feel safe coming downtown again, day or night,” Valenti said.

Some residents expressed concern over the project’s late-night construction schedule, which will continue until 3 A.M. for several weeks. The Mayor’s office explained that “logistical constraints” made night work unavoidable.
