Opinion: The River Deserves Respect

The Junction River is not merely a dividing line—it’s the city’s lifeblood, carrying history beneath its surface. Yet we treat it as a dumping ground and afterthought.

Environmental advocates have urged the city to step up efforts to clean debris and prevent illegal discharge. Some say the water levels have dropped unnaturally in recent weeks, exposing wooden supports and twisted metal once hidden.

A river remembers everything that’s been thrown into it. We should, too.
